Cervical Screening

The NHS offers a cervical screening programme to all women from the age of 25. During cervical screening (previously known as a “smear test”), a small sample of cells is taken from the cervix and checked under a microscope for abnormalities.

See what Michelle Keegan says about having her first smear test here

Family Planning

We offer general contraceptive advice including implant insertion/removal and coil fitting.

Fitness to Work

You do not require a doctor’s sickness certificate for any illness lasting seven days or less. Your employer may however require you to complete a self-certification form (SC2) which is available from your employer or on the HMRC website.

If you are sick for more than seven days, your employer can ask you to give them some form of medical evidence to support payment of SSP (statutory sick pay).

It is up to your employer to decide whether you are incapable of work. A medical certificate, now called a ‘Statement of Fitness for Work’ from your doctor is strong evidence that you are sick and would normally be accepted, unless there is evidence to prove otherwise.

If your employer has any doubts, they may still ask for a medical certificate from your GP.

You can request a fitness to work statement through the NHS app

The number of measles cases are rising, protect your family be ensuring that they have had the MMR vaccine, please speak to our reception team.

Travel Vaccinations

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel, you need to collect a travel form at reception, complete it and hand back in.

The nurse will then contact you to make an appointment with details of vaccinations needed.

It is important to complete the form as early as possible – at least 6 weeks before you travel.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
